Kaliumpyrophosphat wird hauptsächlich in der cyanidfreien Galvanisierung als Komplexbildner anstelle von Natriumcyanid eingesetzt. Kaliumpyrophosphat wird auch als Vorbehandlungsmittel und Pyrophosphat-Lösung für die Galvanisierung verwendet. Kaliumpyrophosphat kann auch als Bestandteil von Waschmitteln für Kleidung, Metalloberflächen und Flaschen sowie als Zusatz in verschiedenen Waschmitteln verwendet werden.
